Lady- below- A registered 17 year old Morgan mare. She was in a Morgan seizure (along with Lily) in 2004. both horses had been adopted out, but I don't think Lady was ridden much. She now has impeccable ground manners and is now just learning to ride. She is a sweet, sweet pea, but an extreme wimp when it comes to other horses. She is so gorgeous.
Lily- Below She is a 17 year old Morgan mare. She is broke to ride, but will take advantage of beginner riders. She is so smart. She just knows. She has ridden on trails, in arena, been to shows and can do a lot. A little bit nasty on picking up her back legs but we have the farrier do her feet in her stall and she is ok in there. Has been ridden both English and Western. Very smart girl and has some spunk!
Mia- below a registered 4 year old QH bay roan mare. She is totally blind in one eye and has no peripheral vision in the other eye. Not sure she will be confident to ride out on trail, but should be ok to give rides to kids by lead rope in a control environment like an arena. She is so gentle and quiet and loves people and other horses. She is NOT an alpa horse at all. She has had some pretty extensive ground work done and has started under saddle.
Cheyenne- Below 4 year old QH palimino- She came into my program pretty skinny and no manners. She is getting ground trained and we will adopt her out before she gets trained to ride but we will train her if she doesn't find a home before hand. She is extremely pretty but does have an old injury to her back leg that doesnt appear that it will be a problem come riding time. She is more of an alpha horse or thinks she is! She is almost up to her ideal weight (wish I could say that for myself!)
Maverick- Below foaled 03/28/2008 paint colt - will be gelded on August 23, 2008. he is a beautiful boy. He is your typical boy for sure. He wont be extremely tall, if he gets to 14.3 i would be surprised. But he will be solid and will be able to take even a heavier rider is my guess. He is being led around with his halter, can pick up his feet (most times without biting me!) and he loves, loves and more loves to play! He is extremely beautiful. Will be weaning at the end of August. I like to wait until 5-6 to wean.
ANNABELLE AND DAISY Below JUNE 2008 ADOPTED! July 2008
Annabelle and Daisy were brought back into my program. I first had Annabelle in March 2005 when I saved her from the kill buyers in Waukon, Iowa. She was pregnant at the time and I just couldn't let her go to slaughter. She was adopted by a wonderful couple but unfortunately, didn't have enough time for them. Annabelle was trained to ride and drive but hasn't been doing either of these for 3 years. Daisy is now 3 and needs to have more work on her manners. Doesn't realize how big she really is. She will butt in when I am paying attention to the other horses. So we are working on her ground manners. Both are up to date on their vaccines and will need the farrier. They do need a stock to have their feet done. Both are in great shape with a few extra pounds. They like to be with other horses and do well with alpha type of horses.
MAX 04/24/2008 Max is a wonderful boy. He is actually liking my geldings! He playsover the fence with Duke every single day. He isn't so protective overhis girls much anymore. I let him out with almost the whole herd to the back pasture and he doesn't try to show his protective side on behalf of his girls anymore. Max is greenbroke and loves attention. He has come a long ways from the boy who I couldn't catch when I first got him! He doesn't act his age and loves to run! He likes to show off for sure!
Updated on 083007-Boy,we just love Max! He is a wonderful boy. He is getting used to havinggeldings around him and his girls. We actually have Sweetheart,Ireland and Lady with him. He loves his girls! I would prefer someonewho had their own place to adopt Max. My trainer has worked with himearlier this year and will be giving him a refresher course soon. Heis green broke and has A LOT of get up and go. So he needs a veryexperienced rider. he listens very well and we had him at the Midwest Horse Fair for 3 days and he did really well riding in the outdoorarena with lots of other horses. My trainer, Makon Buzzell also hadhim at a stable for the St. Judes ride and he did really well withsteep and hard trails. he even went with a couple of other geldings! he is still in great shape and just gorgeous to look at. He does like to make you work to catch him, but after a few tries will just give up and stand there for you to put the halter on him. I swear he thinksits a game! he has no problems leaving his mares, but will get a bitexcited when they leave him. Adoption fee is $500.00returned in December 2006 20 YEAR OLD MORGAN GELDING. IS REGISTERED WITH THE MORGAN ASSOCIATION. HE HAS great BACKGROUND! Maxcame back to me because of a couple of different reasons. He is stillVERY adoptable. But he has a few quirks. He can only be with Mares inhis paddock/pasture area or with NO mares at all. He was probably withnothing but mares. He is being trained right now to ride. He is maresour tho! He takes care of his mares and always wants to stay withhim. He will be able to be ridden as my trainer is doing that now, butjust by his mares. He listens and is a very, very good boy. He isstunning to look at! He listens very well and really is a nice, niceboy. He is strong and doesnt look his 20 years! I will be bringinghim to the Midwest Horse Fair this year (April 20-22, 2007) He is just15 hands and is the typical Morgan. He is very, very beautiful! Hehas been riden English for now, but has had a western saddle on. He isno longer afraid of people and will like to play with his mares fromtime to time. But he is the protector! He is a very intelligenthorse. Picks up on working with him very, very quickly. Doesnt spook and is always very aware of his surroundings! He should be ready to beadopted out by the Midwest Horse Fair. He will need an experiencedrider. But he does take little kids for rides while being led. Heis the perfect herd leader. He will protect his herd from anything! Is used to dogs barking in his face also! (my German shorthair- Hunter!Ha!) Maxis a wonderful boy. He is a dark bay. Last year he was confiscatedfrom a farm who had too many horses. He went to another rescue andthey were full up, so they asked me to take him in along withSweetheart and Blaze. Heis a good boy and looks wonderful. He doesnt always like to beapproached but he is getting better. Once you start petting andgrooming him, he is yours! He is good with other horses also. Ingreat shape! Is up to date with all of his shots, worming andfarrier. Not sure if he is broke yet, but we will be trying him outsoon! He is very close to Sweetheart. Is very protective of hismares. Would do best if he has his own pasture or paddock with mares. Can be next to geldings, but shouldnt be in the same paddock withgeldings or stallions. Heallows us now to approach him and loves to be groomed. Just had a fewtrust issues, but he is very good now. He is so sweet and verybeautiful. His trot is really, really nice!
