Updated 08/30/07!

I just wanted to thank everyone who is helping me with my horse rescue.  It has been a rocky road for the last year.  I have had some financial difficulties and have not been able to get as many horses as I normally do.  And as of today, I am completely full up.  If you have a horse to surrender, please contact the other rescues.  I have a surrender tab in this website that you can refer to.

Now that the horse slaughter is closed for human consumption (still doing slaughter for zoos and such) we will be getting alot more calls for rescues to take their horses.  Please do all that you can do to keep your horses!  It will get worse before it gets better.  Now is definitely a buyers market for horses.  They wont cost as much and please consider adopting a horse from a rescue.

I got a letter in the mail last month from the IRS that they are behind on their non profit applications.  I am hoping to hear something soon from them.  And then watch out!  I will be hitting everyone up for money!  But you will be able to take it off of your taxes.

2 weeks ago, I got 2 mares.  They have had little to no human contact in almost 5 years.  One is a 23 year old QH pony (Shadow) who is pregnant.  She is a beautiful girl (she lost one of her eyes) and is definitely the more social of the 2.  Not sure when she is due, but I certainly hope its soon since cold weather will get here in a couple of months.  The other one is a 9 year old paint mare (Honey) who is MAYBE pregnant.  She is also blind.  So that is making our socialization harder to do with her.  We have been working with her, but so far, she doesnt allow us to touch her.  But she is eating good and is great buddies with Shadow.  Both will be up for adoption when they get socialized and most definitely the foal (s) will be up for adoption - probably 5 months after they are born.

See my available horse pages for their pics.  Coming next week!

updated 02/04/07

I just wanted to say thank you to all of you who come to visit my website-  I appreciate that very much!  I know I have been not too good at updating this.  First of all, I would like to tell you what horses I have right now-

Jack- 13 year old Appendix Quarter horse gelding-(auction)

Missy- 12 year old quarter horse bay mare (auction)

Prize- 2 year old quarter horse filly (daughter of Missy)

Duke- 4 year old Paint gelding- (surrender)

Ace- 4 year old Quarter horse gelding (auction)

Gabe- 1 year colt (auction)

Max- 20 year old Morgan gelding (seizure)

Sweetheart - 20 something Tennessee Walker mare (surrender)

I am also boarding a 4 year old Fresian mare and a 5 year old Paint mare-

Good news!  My paperwork for becoming a non profit has been filed last week.  So hopefully in a few months I will be a NON PROFIT organization!!  Thanks for your patience in this!

My goal is actually take in the horses that cant get homes and for them to live their lives with me and my horse family!  I would like to get donations to keep these horses here.  I will still probably adopt out horses but not as much.  It gets hard to keep them for so long and then give them up.  And the paperwork to keep in contact along with calls is very hard and can be costly.  I have had 3 horses come back to me in the last year.  I know adopting out is very hard and can be what the adoptors do not want.  I am a very small rescue group and it gets very costly for me to go and get horses after I adopt them out.  Most times I do not even get what money I put into them from adoption fees.  And I have had to get them and pay for gas out of my own money-

So pretty much if you adopt a horse from me-  It is the adoption fee and if you cannot keep the horse, it needs to come BACK TO ME!  I never want to see one of my horses at another auction ever again.  I want my adoptors to be sure of what they want.  I do not give back the adoption fee.  And most times, I will need to have gas money to get them from you if you cant bring back the horse to me.  I do also adopt out of state, but will require the adoptors to come to see me and meet with me and the horse they want to adopt.  Sometimes a couple of visits might be required. As all previous horse owners know- horses are VERY, VERY expensive.  I cannot stress that enough. The actual initial cost of the horse is nothing compared to board, vaccines, farrier and heaven forbid!  Vet bills if the horse gets injured or sick!!  I have incurred thousands of dollars for the horses I have.

If you want to come out to see my horses and just get information, please call or email me.  I work full time, so dont be discouraged if I dont call back right away.  I like to call only a couple of days a week, so that I am not on the phone everyday.   I also am trying to save money in every way that I can.  So if you are calling long distance, you can try calling me back to help me in saving money.  I usually get in the house by about 7pm after chores and you can call up to 10 pm.

Sweetheart 20+ Tennessee Walker mare

Please check out my other pages to this website.  I have other rescue groups that can take in horses.  During the winter ALL rescue groups get calls for surrendered horses.  Please try to find your horse a good home before taking them to an auction.  We need to save our horses from the slaughter buyers!!!!  Hundreds of thousands of horses get slaughtered to send the meat overseas for human consumption!  We need to stop this!  Sweetheart is the type of horse that would have went to slaughter if I didnt take her.  She is older and also disabled in knees and never would have went to a home most likely.  She is agreat horse and she doesnt need to be put down.  Even disabled, older, blind or a horse that cant be ridden still can have a quality of life!  Most times, these animals have given us years of pleasure and so why cant they just live out their lives without having to give them up??

I will be at the Midwest Horse Fair this year from April 20-22, 2007 so please come to see me.  I will most likely bring Max this year.  He is a 20 year old Morgan gelding that was seized from a Morgan farm.  He is a wonderful horse that is a complete gentleman.  He was in a stall for most of his life

Last year, my husband and I had some pretty harsh financial difficulties, so I couldnt take on anymore horses to make sure I could take care of the horses I have now.  But 2007 is looking better in getting more horses to keep here for their retirement or to adopt out horses.

Gabe is a 1 year old (july baby) Appendix quarter horse baby that we are going to try to take to horse shows to show him off.  He is a beautiful baby that had come from a PMU farm in Canada.  I want to show people that they can get great horses from auctions and not have to pay thousands of dollars for them!  And you saved a horse from maybe slaughter!!  I will be letting you all know when we will be showing him!  He is already 15 hands and has wonderful conformation!  I have a wonderful trainer who will be working with him and hopefully will train him to jump and do dressage.  Right now he will be doing halter classes until older.

Remember!  You can call me to surrender a horse, but they cannot be a stud, or (at this time) need major vet care.   They MUST have a negative coggins and cannot be sick.  I will come to look at your horse first before coming to get them.  I need as much background  as possible.  If I cant take your horse I will refer you to other rescue groups that may be able to take them.

If you are thinking about adopting, you can come out and volunteer with me if you want to see what its all about.  Alot of parents and kids have come out to check it out and found out its either for them or not!  Which is good, because owning a horse is a much bigger commitment than owning a dog or cat!  Horses can live into their 30's!!

I am very picky about who I adopt out too.  Much more so that I have been doing this for longer now-  If I dont adopt to you, I will give you the reasons. Please take advice from other horse people and make sure you have a vet you can trust!

Please contact me with any questions or concerns!
